When writing the story of your life: don’t let anyone else hold the pen.
I came across this quote, and it absolutely felt so relevant to my life. I felt that I should share these thoughts, and hopefully it could relate to you as well 🙂
Throughout our life, we always hear from people around us how we should live our life. When you’re young, they like to ask “what do you want to do when you grow up?” It’s a question most of us were never 100% sure of, well at least I wasn’t. I must’ve changed my mind at least 15 times. As a second generation Chinese growing up in America, my parents also tried to advise me on what I should do with my life. Although I’m considered an adult, they always criticize my choices and how I’m living my life. Friends or acquaintances see us and judge as well. As if society doesn’t give us enough pressure already, everyone around you are constantly making you feel as if you’re living your life wrong.
Honestly, there is no right or wrong. Just do you. You are the author to your own story. You hold the pen, so write your own story. If you mess up, that’s okay, you can overcome your challenges in the next chapter (of your life). You may need to remove some characters and sacrifice a little, but in the end, you will have your own little happily ever after. Do what makes you happy, because you are only responsible for your happiness, no one else’s. You have only one life to live, let’s make it worthwhile.
I wish everyone a happy and blissful life. Don’t fall into pressure from anyone or society. Be unique, and continue to write your story 🙂
